Kylie Blackstock - Director of BandsKylie Blackstock is a native of Bainbridge, Georgia. After graduating from Bainbridge High School, she continued her education at Troy University. Mrs. Blackstock received a Bachelors of Music Education and a Masters of Science in Education degree from Troy.
During her time at Troy University, Mrs. Blackstock was a member of the “Sound of the South” Marching Band, Football Pep Band, Basketball Pep Band, Symphony Band, and Horn Studio. She held several positions in the Troy University School of Music as an undergraduate student, including: Assistant/Head Music Librarian, Secretary/Treasurer of the “Sound of the South” and Mellophone Section Leader. She was the 2013 “Sound of the South” Outstanding Senior, and she also received the John M. Long Achievement Award in 2014. After completing her undergraduate studies, Mrs. Blackstock served as a Graduate Assistant for the Troy University Band Program. She served as both Administrative GA and Logistics GA during her graduate studies. In addition to her assistant duties, she also worked with the “Sound of the South” Marching Band and was an assistant conductor of the Troy University Campus Band, Concert Bands, and Symphony Band. Mrs. Blackstock also served as Principal Hornist for the Symphony Band from 2014-2016. Mrs. Blackstock is the current Director of Bands at Brantley School in Brantley, Alabama, where she leads the Emerald Wave Marching Band, Concert Band, Intermediate Band, and Beginning Band. She is in her seventh year of teaching at Brantley School. Mrs. Blackstock’s professional affiliations include: the National Association for Music Educators, Alabama Music Educators Association, the National Education Association, the Alabama Education Association, and Tau Beta Sigma – National Honorary Band Sorority. |
